i have, for reasons not entirely clear to me, been listening obsessively to the moulin rouge soundtrack.
i'm temping right now, getting up at 6am to get to work in raleigh by 8, and generally getting home by 5:30. it's not exciting, but it's steady and pays well, which is all i require at the moment. i'm looking for something a little more permanent and a little closer to home, but that'll come with time.
life here is treating me pretty well. nice house, good roommate, and interesting area to explore (when i'm not too tired at the end of the day). life is pretty chill. we spent last night at "after hours" at the weaver st. market, listening to some local musicians do the jazzy thing while a large crowd ate barbecue food and many small children ran around a large old oak and periodically screaming for the joy of it. i'm surrounded by excessive amounts of vegetation and have to drive pretty much everywhere (this is not the walking city i've gotten used to living in madison), but people are friendly and i'm slowly finding all the basics (have to find the library and post office tomorrow, i think.
anyway, maybe i'll start posting in this on a regular basis again. given my relative lack of people i know, i'm certainly not out as much as i used to be.
but yeah. i'm in north carolina.
